On 19 September 2020, the Coordination Committee of SISMIKO, one of the Emergency Operational Groups (GO) of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (In italian: Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, INGV), met to evaluate an intervention by the mobile seismic network in Eastern Sicily. In the previous days some seismic events, located near the municipalities of Salemi, Vita and Gibellina in the province of Trapani, were troubling the localadministrations. The Head of Civil Protection of the Sicily Region therefore asked the president of the INGV for an assessment of the intensification of the seismic monitoring of the area.
