As any other Italian public research institution, the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) carries out the so‐called “Third Mission” activities, devoted to education, with the aim of delivering to the public the scientific and technological knowledge obtained while doing research. In this aspect, INGV promotes a close connection between research and society, in addition to its strategic government role aimed at the comprehension and mitigation of natural phenomena. Among the activities comprising the “Third Mission” are the Paths for the Transversal Competences and Orientation (PCTO) aimed at high school students.
