I° SIMPOSIO INGV 6 - 9 Novembre 2023, Terrasini (Palermo)

Abstract

In November 2023, the first Symposium of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) was held in Terrasini, in the province of Palermo. The Symposium was organized with the following goals:
• Plan the future scientific development of the institute;
• Strengthen collaboration between the 11 INGV Sections;
• Program the growth of infrastructure and their interoperability;
• Assess the weaknesses of INGV’s organization and propose effective solutions;
• Identify priorities to improve workplace well-being;
• Discuss and implement the INGV’s Three-Year Activity Plan (In Italian: Piano Triennale di Attività - PTA).
The event saw the participation of numerous INGV employees, from all professional backgrounds, both in-person and online. The Symposium offered a valuable opportunity to share and discuss both scientific topics and the organizational and management aspects. One of the main focuses of the Symposium was the PTA, but the discussions were broad and cross-disciplinary, addressing crucial issues such as collaboration between Departments and Sections, the alignment of the scientific and administrative sectors, and the development of research and monitoring infrastructure.
